we are visions in the night

we are remote control, spreading like wildfire over hilltops

we are diversion, pastimes made for make-believe monotony

we are the uprooted fibres of the heart’s enclosure

we are a return policy worth holding on to in case of failure

we are fear, biting anger turned inward

we are waging war, we didn’t ask what you think

we are incantations for the apocalypse

we are the public at large, a policy with no need for privacy

we are limited resources, proportionately at higher risk

we are infectious, mass appeal at affordable prices

we are distribution of wealth, tasting the power of withholding

we are hysteria, the burnt toast of rejection

we are pandemic neediness, too afraid to leave

we are inexplicable devotion to the thing you care about most

we are recoiled bedsprings, offering only the most restless sleep

we are a national archive in cinders

we are consistent with the phases of radial growth

we take chances, the higher the stakes the better

we are addictive, modulating compliance with the status quo

we are artificial intelligence, drowned out by our own droning

we are revolting, taking back the sky
