PLEASE NOTE: The Blasted Tree is not accepting book-length manuscripts for consideration.
If you produce visual, digital, or experimental poetry of any kind and are interested in collaborating with The Blasted Tree, please do not hesitate to contact us. Send us a brief description of your vision or project using the form to the right, and we can discuss working together. Alternatively, you can send sample material to theblastedtree@gmail.com and let your art speak for itself! We specifically encourage submissions from Canadian creators who identify with communities under-served by the literary establishment. The Blasted Tree is always looking to publish new and unconventional work, so please feel free to send us your best and most challenging material.
Donate & Support
As an independently owned and operated publishing company, The Blasted Tree needs your support to stay afloat. We are committed to providing free digital access to our content, but there are many costs associated with operating a website and printing press. Your help can go a long way to ensure the voices of our artists continue to be heard. Consider making a donation or purchasing a quality print edition of our work using the buttons below.
Land & Mandate
The Blasted Tree publishes from Mohkinstsis in the territories of the people of the Treaty 7 region of Southern Alberta, which includes the Blackfoot Confederacy (comprising the Siksika, Piikani, and Kainai First Nations), the Tsuut’ina First Nation, the Stoney Nakoda (including the Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Wesley First Nations), and the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region III.
Our mandate is to publish experimental poetry in all its extraordinary forms, particularly by authors and artists under-served by the Canadian literary establishment, including creators who identify with female, BIPOC, LGBTQ+, disabled, impoverished, and other communities whose unique perspectives too often go unsung. If you are from a dominant social group (white, male, wealthy, etc.), or are submitting from outside of Canada, we will, of course, still consider your work, but please ensure your submission lines up with our mandate. The Blasted Tree’s priority is to publish content that is both exceptional and diverse.
