1.1 – On auditory hallucinations experienced in a vacuum

by Michael Smilovitch

One cannot grow flowers in a vacuum
But try, see for yourself
How soon the phantom noises arrive
And you hear that which cannot be there
Demanding constant stimulation

A ventricle murmurs
Some soft tissue prayer
Smooth muscle shrugs indifferently

One cannot grow flowers within walls
Painted black as curt pigmentation
Feasts on our wavelengths
Leaving eyes starved, empty cones
And ice cream sat sweating in the dark

An ossicle shudders
Some invented dilemma
Nervous bones whisper sweet nothings to the mind
