trois choses

Then there are days
when under the strains
of the hiccupping sirens and
growling pavement
the city submits
to the dragging of feet
to the wishful     
thinking
of a worn down wick
That’s seen better nights

And when it rains
the city will cough
indignant like a stubborn flame
confronted
with the possibility of spluttering out

Amour, toux et fumée en ne secret sont demeurée.
(Love, smoke and cough are hard to hide)
