Intersections

The way you’d talk to me—
“Don’t.”

Your foot on the gas pedal.

My lips— a twitched parting—
a violent stop sign
where words should have been.

Nearly a T-bone
at the intersection.

A pause
in your anger.

You,
my wall.

You’re all the way inside me,
dense breath within
my spongy grey lungs.

Me,
on all fours,

turned away from you.
